Why I am working with the Research Shop: I am passionate about bringing research beyond the walls of the University and drawing upon the knowledge, experience, and expertise of communities in order to collaboratively define and achieve goals that have positive impacts for society. Working at the Research Shop enables me to build meaningful relationships with community partners that serve as the foundation for facilitating and sustaining processes of social change.
Program of Study: I have the privilege of working alongside an Inuit community in Nunatsiavut, Labrador, for my doctoral project. Together, we are using community-based, participatory approaches to develop a health and environmental monitoring and response program as a strategy for adapting to the health impacts of environmental changes in the North in innovative, culturally-safe, and community-centred ways.
