Below the Radar Podcast Featuring CESI Director Liz Jackson
CESI’s director, Elizabeth Jackson was recently featured on the Below the Radar Podcast, an innovative podcast with the goal of “amplifying ideas that fly below the radar”. The Below the Radar podcast is a knowledge democracy podcast created by Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) Vancity Office of Community Engagement and is directed and hosted by Am Johal. The SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement works to foster reciprocal relationships between SFU students, staff, faculty, and the wider community and supports creative engagement, knowledge democracy, and access to arts and culture through programming, community partnerships, and community-engaged research. Their work is guided by community engagement where they collaborate with and for their community for the exchange of mutually beneficial knowledge and resources.
The Below the Radar podcast promotes the meaningful exchange of ideas and information across communities by inviting guests to participate in discussions surrounding environmental and social justice, arts, culture, community-building, and urban issues. In a recent episode, Elizabeth Jackson joined host Am Johal to discuss the work of the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute (CESI). She focuses on CESI’s role and how community-engaged research can be used to provide a foundation for policy development and in widening imaginations and creating possibilities on the ground. The episode also discusses Dr. Jackson's life trajectory - including what brought her to CESI and led her to Critical Community-Engaged Scholarship.
