Why I am working with the Research Shop: I am very drawn to the Research Shop's aim to create positive change through upstream approaches by engaging collaboratively with the community. I am excited by the opportunity to work on community-driven projects that address issues being tackled in our own backyard. I look forward to learning more about the Guelph community through the Research Shop's unique intersectoral partnerships while also enhancing my research skills.
Program of study: Working as a Public Health Nurse at a local health unit cultivated my desire to further explore the public health field. I have seen first-hand the intersectionality of the social determinants of health and the impact of compounded vulnerabilities. As a student in the Master of Public Health program, I am passionate about working upstream to reduce systematic barriers in order to promote and protect health and well-being across the lifespan.
