Rebecca Pereira

Why I am working with the Research Shop: I am working with the Research Shop in order to gain hands-on experience with research both in my field and outside of it. I hope to gain insight on what it takes to conduct applied research and to practice methods outside of a classroom setting. I am excited to work on projects that will be meaningful and which can have positive impacts on our community. Working with the Research Shop will help me prepare for my future graduate studies and will expose me to a network of like-minded people that I may be able to work with in the future.

Program of Study: My research interests are primarily focused on public health issues faced by individuals in marginalized groups. I am interested in how different cultural perceptions of health are addressed in the health care system and would like to research methods on how to make the health care system more flexible and accessible to individuals who have culture-specific health needs.
